The 2006 Championships were scheduled in Pretoria, South Africa. However, South Africa had to withdraw their nomination. The ICSF is looking to the ACA and the Japanese Casting Association to possibly fill the void. No decision has been made. It is possible that there will be no 2006 World Championships.
The World Championships of 2002 were held in Bled, Slovenia, September 3-8, 2002. Steve Rajeff, Henry Mittel, Bobby Spear, Tony Yap, and Pamela Petersrepresented the ACA.
Steve Rajeff of Washington State (Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club) won two gold medals in Single Handed Fly Distance and Multiplier Accuracy (18 g or 5/8 oz.). For the results, see www.castingsport.com .
The World Games, recognized by the International Olympic Committee, include the sport of casting. They are organized every four years. The last World Games were held August 16-26, 2001 in Akita, Japan.
